Sleep Bootcamp
Ya-hoo! It's now been officially 2 weeks of Baby Sleep Bootcamp and Maggie seems to have learned to fall asleep on her own. For those of you who don't know what the Bootcamp is, it is our little sleep program we initiated based on a program of the SuperNanny called the Controlled-Crying Technique. We started by putting Maggie in her crib when she was tired, but not asleep, and going in to soothe her after increasing longer periods of time (5 mins, 10 mins, 20 mins, etc). The first night she cried for a very, very long time, but now we just feed, cuddle and sing to her, then put her down in her crib with her blankie and within 5 minutes, she's asleep!! She usually wakes once in the night for a feeding and then back to sleep until 6 or 7 am. It's great! Chad and I also take turns with the night-time duty and it feels great now to get a full 7-8 hours of sleep every second night.
She still gets somewhat fussy around 6:30pm which we're guessing is her way of telling us she's ready for sleep. A couple of nights ago, we put her in her jolly jumper to really wear her out for bedtime, but just watch what happens when you put a cranky baby and her love for jumping together... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbAsTvzTbvs

I am glad the sleeping is going better for all of you. It is good here too and we didn't even have to let her cry very much. I guess she was just ready. I put her down for 1 nap a day in her crib - usually around 12:30 or so. She naps about 2-3 hours. Then she is down for the night at 8pm - sometimes waking once at around 1:30 or 2am. So we are both getting sleep! See you at the valentines party this week.
